RENAISSANCE SAILS YEAR-ROUND IN CARIBBEAN AS ITS UNIQUE DESTINATIONS SET NEW HIGHS

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Dec. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Renaissance Cruises' Caribbean destinations have proven so popular that the company is adding three weekly cruises for this season, and it will operate one- and two- week Caribbean cruises year-round for the first time.
Since early November, Renaissance has operated two of its yacht-like luxury ships in the Caribbean on both northbound and southbound itineraries out of Antigua, one ship sailing Saturdays and the other on Sundays. Northbound one-week sailings have been added Feb. 28, and March 14, and a southbound one-week sailing has been added March 7.
Renaissance Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Edward B. Rudner said the line's itineraries, which feature less-traveled enchanting islands are turning out to have significant appeal.
Renaissance Cruises recently was awarded "Best Cruise Destinations in the World" by Conde Nast Traveler magazine. This award recognizes Renaissance's philosophy to provide all guests unusually ample time to explore exclusive ports of call from ships that are operated as five-star hotels.
Each of their eight luxury ships features 50 or 57 all-outside suites, some with private balconies, earning Conde Nast Traveler's recognition as one of the best of all cruise lines for its suites.
In the Caribbean, Renaissance features one- and two-week itineraries, without repeating any ports. Cruises sail roundtrip from Antigua. Northbound sailings include St. Kitts, St. Croix, Virgin Gorda, St. Maarten, and St. Barts (for two un-hurried days). Southbound itineraries visit Dominica, then to St. Lucia, for unspoiled Soufriere at the Pitons, and then a few miles up the west coast to Castries. Next explored are St. Vincent, Bequia, Martinique and Montserrat, before returning to Antigua.
The present Renaissance Caribbean season, operated with two ships has now been changed to operate year-round, Rudner said, because of sustained high interest in the itineraries. One ship will remain, beginning with the spring season, operating permanently from Antigua every Sunday, alternating between northbound and southbound departures.
Renaissance ships cruise from home ports throughout the world, including the Far East, Seychelles, Caribbean, Mediterranean, Aegean and Baltic.
