"That was a big win today for us," Stover said. "We are out here proving we are a great team. A lot of people don't give us respect because we are a small school, so we have to show them what's up."

The game was put out of reach early, as the Wildcats jumped out to a 10-0 lead and led 26-9 at the end of the first quarter.

Renaissance Academy employed a full-court style of play and an effective zone with its huge size advantage.

La Canada was held to 13 points in the first half. Will Baldwin scored all ninefirst-quarter points for the Spartans.

"I wish we could have competed better," La Canada coach Tom Hofman said. "We came out flat and you can't give a team like that a 20-point cushion. I though we got some good looks, but we couldn't make a shot today."

"To do what we did today and without two key guys was great for our team, school and season," Renaissance Academy head coach Sid Cooke said. "We came out focused from the get go."
