WHAT:
The Wirth Companies, Inc. plans to begin demolition of the former
Decathlon Athletic Club building on May 6, 2004. Construction of
America's Biggest Indoor Water Park and the 403 room Grand Lodge
Minnesota is scheduled for July of 2004. Despite Bloomington City
Staff's decision to reject requests for tax increment financing, The
Wirth Companies, Inc. closed on the Decathlon Property located at 1700
E. 79th Street in Bloomington, MN on April 16, 2004. This $100 million
project will create another Tourist Mecca for the City of Bloomington
by including innovative features like America's Biggest Indoor Water
Slide Tower elevating approximately 10 stories over I-494. The Wirth
Companies are anticipating the new GRAND LODGE MINNESOTA & WATER PARK
OF AMERICA project to open Fall of 2005.
