WHAT:       Together with PETCO stores, the California Lottery wants
            to know if you have one of California's "Top Dogs?" The
            Lottery is developing a new series of Scratchers tickets
            featuring California's "Top Dogs." The Lottery will be
            travelling across the state and holding contests to select
            the "Top Dogs" to be featured on these Scratchers in 2003.

            San Diego-area residents are invited to bring their dogs
            to their local contest this Saturday to see if their dog
            has what it takes to be on the California Lottery's next
            series of Scratchers tickets.

WHEN:       October 5, 2002
            12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.
            (Registration will close at 2:00 p.m. sharp)

WHERE:      PETCO
            1000 West Valley Parkway
            Escondido, California
