WHAT: Texas Guaranteed (TG) President and CEO Milt Wright will
recognize and commend Dr. Miguel A. Nevarez and the University
of Texas - Pan American for reducing its student loan default
rate from 20.9 percent to 6.5 percent over the past 10 years.
The default rate at UTPA is expected to drop even further in
the cohort year 2002 to an all time low of 1.7 percent. In
addition, Wright will present TG's recent publication "A Clear
and Present Danger to Institutional and Student Success." This
publication includes a case study prepared by UTPA showcasing
the strategic enrollment management and default prevention
measures taken to drastically reduce the default rate. This
publication will be used as a training model by college and
universities across the nation.
