WHO: David Mayhew, StarGen's chief scientist, was invited to
present at this month's third annual Server Blade Summit.
Mayhew will be participating in two sessions-The Birds of a
Feather session on blade standards, where he will be
discussing PCI Express and Advanced Switching in servers and
storage, and Session 105, a panel that will discuss system
interconnects, where Mayhew will talk about switched
interconnect architectures. With over 20 years of software and
network engineering experience, Mayhew has authored several
computer science textbooks, and is co-inventor of the
StarFabric technology.
WHAT: StarGen is a fabless semiconductor company that supplies
advanced serial switched interconnect solutions. StarGen's
currently shipping StarFabric product line benefits vendors of
embedded systems needing enhanced switched PCI capability, as
well as vendors of access communication platforms for voice,
data, and video networks. StarFabric-based products are
currently being designed into a wide range of market segments
including medical imaging, video serving, semiconductor
testing, communication routers and switches, military command
and control, and storage equipment. StarGen is also currently
developing StarXpress, a complementary line of products built
upon the Advanced Switching standard and compatible with PCI
Express(TM).
WHERE: The third annual Server Blade Summit, which will be held at
the Wyndham in San Jose, CA, is an annual conference geared
toward hardware and software designers, engineering managers,
system analysts, network and system integrators, software
specialists, network managers, network engineers, design
specialists and test and development engineers interested in
the evolution of modular and blade-system computing.
WHEN: The conference will take place from Tuesday, March 9th
through Thursday, March 11th, 2004. The Birds of a Feather
Session on blade standards will be held on Tuesday, March 9th
from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., and Session 105 will be held on
Wednesday, March 10th from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
About StarGen StarGen is a semiconductor company providing advanced serial switched interconnect solutions for compute To perform mathematical operations or general computer processing. For an explanation of "The 3 C's," or how the computer processes data, see computer. and communications equipment. It is the leading designer of low-overhead, protocol-agnostic, open standards-based serial switched architectures, which enable system designers to bring new capabilities to their system while using existing standards-based parts. StarGen's currently shipping StarFabric product line benefits vendors of embedded systems Embedded systems Computer systems that cannot be programmed by the user because they are preprogrammed for a specific task and are buried within the equipment they serve. needing enhanced switched PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS. StarGen is also currently developing StarXpress, a complementary line of products built upon the Advanced Switching standard and compatible with PCI Express A high-speed peripheral interconnect from Intel introduced in 2002. Note that although sometimes abbreviated "PCX," PCI Express is not the same as "PCI-X" (see PCI-SIG and PCI-X for comparison). As a result of the confusion, "PCI-E" or "PCIe" is the accepted abbreviation. (TM). These products will be ideal solutions for blade server A server architecture that houses multiple server modules ("blades") in a single chassis. It is widely used in datacenters to save space and improve system management.
