What:   Spirit is "flying" to the North Pole with 25 children and
        their families from Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital for a
        special holiday flight to visit Santa.

When:   Sunday, December 7, 2003 at 10:00 a.m.

Where:  Spirit's North Pole Check-In Area, Terminal 4, Gate H3
        Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport


Photo/Video Opportunities: Children onboard Spirit's holiday plane during the "flight," Santa and Mrs. Claus Mrs. Claus is a folk hero, and is the wife of Santa Claus in many modern versions of the Santa Claus legend.

 - Event Outline:

-- Costumed greeters will entertain children as they wait to

board the plane. Once onboard, the flight attendant will

request passengers to pull down the shades in preparation for

"take-off."

-- Everyone will sing holiday songs as the plane "taxis down the

The Rest of the Story:

This North Pole program is now in its 17th year and was founded by the Eastern Airlines Silverliners. The tradition is carried on by the Basettes, a 30-member organization of Broward aviation sales executives who are in their 22nd year of doing good deeds for the Broward County community.

Spirit has been taking these special "flights" for five years.

Ed Nelson, director of the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, will play the part of Santa Claus and Alice Parkman, director of sales and marketing at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale/Sunrise will play the part of Mrs. Claus.
