REMINDER...for Tuesday Tuesday: see week.  (July July: see month.  29)

--(BUSINESS WIRE)

GE Centennial:

WHAT: To kick off a three-week long Centennial of Flight
Celebration at Rockefeller Center, GE, the world's leading
maker of jet engines, is unveiling its "Imagine the Power"
exhibit, which demonstrates how wind force shot through fan
blades can lift 700,000 pounds into the air.

GE's exhibit will showcase the GE90-115B, the most powerful
commercial jet engine ever built. Certified at an
unprecedented 115,000 pounds of thrust, the GE90-115B is
recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the
"World's Most Powerful Commercial Jet Engine." It stands
13 feet high by 25 feet long and weighs 20,000 pounds. Its
thrust has the power to blow two-ton boulders about as if
           they were pebbles.

In addition, visitors have the opportunity to experience an
interactive tunnel that encourages exploration and
highlights the technologies that power airplanes to take
off, cruise and land. Ideal for all ages, the exhibit
offers a stunning combination of video, computer
           simulation, and 3D images.

And, there's a twist at the end.

WHY: From producing the turbosuperchargers that powered aircraft
in World Wars I and II, to introducing America's first jet
engine, to becoming the world's leading maker of aircraft
engines, GE has played a major role in the innovation of
           flight.

To celebrate, GE has joined the U.S. Centennial Commission
and other sponsors to present The Centennial of Flight
exhibit at Rockefeller Center. The three-week exhibit at
Rockefeller Center will include full-scale replicas of
historic aircraft from the Wright Flyer to the 75-foot
Mercury Redstone Rocket, as well as GE's own exhibit on
           powering flight.
