WHAT: IMPACT Day
More than 250 Deloitte Consulting volunteers will reach out to
over 1,200 Chicago Public Schools (CPS) students in grades
2-12. Volunteers will tutor students using a curriculum
focused around inspirational speaker and author Mawi Asgedom,
encouraging the students to reach for their dreams and
overcome obstacles. Chicago Public Schools CEO Arne Duncan
will kick off this year's event by addressing CPS students and
Deloitte Consulting volunteers at a ceremony in Prudential
Plaza. Mawi Asgedom will continue after the kickoff by
delivering his compelling story to three CPS high schools.
This year's event is part of Deloitte Consulting's IMPACT
Program, which addresses the learning needs in the CPS
curriculum, infrastructure, and community. This is the third
year that IMPACT Day has taken place in Chicago, and
volunteers will donate an estimated 2,250 hours to this
effort.
