WHAT: A wide variety of art and storytelling workshops will
inspire up-and-coming artists as well as provide the
community with a distinctive opportunity to explore the
beauty of watercolor through a well-known community
artist, Vincent Takas. These programs and educational
activities create an experience where people of all ages
can learn about culture, history and art while enjoying
the park-like grounds of Forest Lawn-Glendale. All
events are open to the public at no charge.
February 8th - 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
-- "Stories in Watercolor." Watercolor artist Vincent
Takas shares the enchanting stories that inspired his
art. Takas takes the viewer on a whirlwind tour of
several of the most romantic destinations in the
world, where his art captures the beauty of the
destinations as well as the simple, oft overlooked
aspects of daily life that evoke powerful emotions
when their stories are told with his paintbrush and
palette. Come hear Vincent Takas talk about the
stories behind his art.
February 29th - 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
-- Artists Forum: "Paint Out/Write Out." Bring your
brushes and pens and spend the afternoon listening,
learning, and experiencing your own craft with local
artists and writers.
March 14th - 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
-- A Visit To The Museum: Storytelling: "Babar's
Museum Of Art" And Art Activity. This activity will
be geared to the younger museum visitor, ages 3 to 7
years. Animated storytelling will inspire young
finger-paint and watercolor artists to create a
masterpiece of their own. Watercolors and finger
paints will be provided.
March 28th - 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
-- Art Kit Family Activity. Families can create their
own masterpiece by taking an "Art Kit" filled with
watercolor materials into our Memorial Park and
Museum galleries. Finished paintings will be
displayed in a temporary exhibit on the Esplanade.
Activities are inspired by the current exhibit by
Vincent Takas, "Stories in Watercolor."
April 4th - 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
-- Watercolor Workshop With Vincent Takas. Watercolor
artist Vincent Takas gives a demonstration of
watercolor techniques.
April 11th - 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.
-- Family Stories: Watercolor Painting Activity And
Story Writing. Paint a family portrait and illustrate
a favorite family story with words and pictures.

-- "Stories in Watercolor: By Vincent Takas" Exhibit.
Forest Lawn Museum's inaugural 2004 exhibit offers
art enthusiasts a watercolor tour of Italy, with a
visit to the Rialto, and Venice with its canals and
quaint little streets; the lush green landscapes of
Ireland; and a glimpse of everyday American life with
simple scenes such as a bicycle leaning against a
house to Phillippe's Restaurant in Los Angeles, where
coffee is still only five cents a cup.
