WHO:

        Ambassador Boudewijn J. van Eenennaam of The Netherlands, who
        is on an eight-day visit to California, will visit RAND
        headquarters in Santa Monica and later call on Los Angeles
        Mayor James Hahn. At RAND he will discuss defense strategy and
        regional issues. With Mayor James K. Hahn, mayor of the most
        populous city on the West Coast, he will discuss the
        challenges of running a multicultural city in difficult
        economic times. The greater Los Angeles Area has a sizeable
        number of persons of Dutch descent, amongst which there are
        about 3,500 World War II survivors (both from the Netherlands
        and the former Netherlands East Indies (now Indonesia).

WHEN/WHERE:

        Wednesday, Nov. 19

        -- At 9 a.m., the ambassador will arrive for a briefing on
           defense strategy and regional issues at the offices of RAND
           in Santa Monica.

        -- At noon, he will have a luncheon meeting with the president
           of RAND, Dr. James A. Thomson.

        -- At 4 p.m., Ambassador van Eenennaam will call on Mayor
           James Hahn at his office at 200 N. Spring Street, Third
           Floor, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
