REMINDER/TV's Sam Waterston to Highlight Pittsburgh Benefit for the National Cathedral.
REMINDER...for April 29
Famed actor Sam Waterston, star of TV's hit "Law and Order," will be the guest of honor at an April 29, 2000, benefit event for the National Cathedral Association being organized by a group of prominent Shadyside and Point Breeze residents.
The benefit will be held at The Pittsburgh Golf Club, on Northumberland Avenue.
The National Cathedral Association, of which Waterston is an ardent supporter, is a nationwide, ecumenical network of volunteers committed to supporting the Washington (D.C.) National Cathedral in its role as a "House of Prayer for All People" across America. The NCA provides local support for the Washington National Cathedral and raises money to help fund the Cathedral's ministries, including pilgrimages.
"Our event will be one of a cluster of events being held across the country this spring," explained Mary Frank, one of the event's organizers. "The National Cathedral plays an important role in the spiritual life of our country, and its influence is felt nationwide. We see our event as a way for Pittsburghers to demonstrate their support for a nationwide renewal of faith. We are honored that Sam Waterston has agreed to help us in the cause."
Waterston, best known for his starring role on the "Law and Order" series, has had an illustrious career as one of America's best-known and respected actors. The Academy Award, Emmy, Golden Globe and Tony Award nominee has appeared in such highly successful films as "Hannah and Her Sisters," "The Killing Fields," and "The Great Gatsby," among numerous other film, television and stage roles.
Tickets for the April 29th benefit are $100 and may be purchased by calling 412-488-7163.
