A Labor Day Mass was held in Los Angeles on Sunday to recognize the contributions of immigrant workers' as Democratic Party candidates and activists gathered in the San Fernando Valley for a picnic and softball game.

The Archdiocese of Los Angeles' Annual Labor Day Mass was held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Vincent Catholic Church in Los Angeles with Cardinal Roger Mahony His Eminence Roger Michael Cardinal Mahony (born February 27, 1936) is an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church. He currently serves as the fourth Archbishop of Los Angeles, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1991. .

Hundreds of immigrant families attended, along with a number of religious and political leaders from Los Angeles and Mexico.

Later in the morning, the Democratic Party of the San Fernando Valley held its fourth annual Labor Day weekend picnic and softball game at Van Nuys-Sherman Oaks Park.
