The man was killed by a northbound Union Pacific freight train about 3:30 p.m. Saturday as he walked along the railroad tracks near Avenue I and Sierra Highway Sierra Highway is a road in Southern California, United States. The engineer blew the train's whistle several times, but the man continued walking along the tracks as if he didn't notice, sheriff's officials said. The train was traveling between 40 mph and 50 mph when it hit the man, who was thrown several feet. Officials shut down the crossings at Lancaster Boulevard and Avenue I for nearly 2 1/2 hours while conducting their investigation. The victim is white, born Feb. 23, 1957, stood 5 feet 8 inches and weighed about 210 pounds.
