REGISTRAR EXPANDS OFFICE TO COVER WEDDINGS.

LANCASTER - A larger Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Office has opened in Lancaster with room for civil weddings.

Replacing an office one-third its size on East Avenue K-6, the new office is in a former jury waiting room building at the Alfred J. McCourtney Juvenile Justice Center, 1040 W. Ave AVE Avenue

"It's a full service office. You can get any service you could get at out Norwalk office," Registrar-Recorder Conny McCormack said at a dedication for the office, which actually opened March 27.

At the office, people can get copies of birth and death certificates, obtain marriage licenses, and record and get copies of real estate documents. People can also register to vote or apply for absentee One who has left, either temporarily or permanently, his or her domicile or usual place of residence or business. A person beyond the geographical borders of a state who has not authorized an agent to represent him or her in legal proceedings that may be commenced against him or her  ballots, file as political candidates, and register business names.

Starting in May, weddings will be performed on Fridays.

The office is serving three times as many people as when it opened in 1991, she said.

The Lancaster office opened with one worker, now has four and will add three more, plus volunteers to handle the weddings, McCormack said.

The office is open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
