Debated books displayed at CLU (language) CLU - (CLUster) An object-oriented programming language developed at MIT by Liskov et al in 1974-1975.

CLU is an object-oriented language of the Pascal family designed to support data abstraction, similar to Alphard.

Avocados, citrus, vegetables, strawberries, and nursery products are grown.  -- Books that have been considered controversial at various times will be on exhibit Sept. 4-28 at California Lutheran University's Pearson Library.

"Banned Books: From a Historical Perspective" will be held in observance of Banned Books Week, which the American Library Association American Library Association, founded 1876, organization whose purpose is to increase the usefulness of books through the improvement and extension of library services.  created in 1982 to remind people of the freedom to read.

The exhibit will include "The Scarlet Letter" by Nathaniel Hawthorne, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings is a 1969 autobiographical novel about the early years of author Maya Angelou's life. The autobiography explores the isolation and loneliness faced by Angelou, and the attributes of her character that helped her cope with the prejudices of " by Maya Angelou and "Tom Sawyer" by Mark Twain.

The library at 60 W. Olsen Road is open 10:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Sundays, 8:15 a.m. to 11:45 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 8:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Fridays, and 10:15 a.m. to 6:45 p.m. Saturdays.

No-contest plea by cop's daughter

SANTA CLARITA

4 hurt when car, big rig collide

CASTAIC -- Four people were hospitalized in critical condition early Wednesday after a car collided with a big rig on the Golden State Freeway near Templin Highway, officials said.

Firefighters used hydraulic tools to extricate the victims from their vehicle after the 1:43 a.m. crash, officials said.

Two victims were airlifted and two others were transported by ambulance to local hospitals.

ANTELOPE VALLEY

Council OKs plan for 'lifestyle' mall

LANCASTER -- The City Council has approved plans for a "lifestyle" shopping mall to be built on 150 acres at 10th Street West and Avenue L.

Under the agreement approved late Tuesday, the developer will finance $5.8 million of the estimated $10.9 million cost of the needed drainage improvements.

The remaining $5.1 million will be paid by drainage impact fees collected by the city.

The project is expected to generate $2.3 million annually for the general fund and $550,000 annually in tax increment revenue.
