REGAL COMMUNICATIONS ANNOUNCES RESULTS FOR 1991
FORT WASHINGTON, Pa., Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Regal Communications

Corporation (NASDAQ: RCOM) announced today that revenues for the 12 months ended Sept. 30, 1991, increased 76 percent to $17,707,238 compared to $10,089,567 for the year in 1990.
Income from continuing operations before taxes increased 20 percent to $3,446,726 compared to $2,883,665 in the prior year. Net income for the year decreased 1 percent to $2,639,965 compared to $2,672,938 in 1990. The decrease in net income in 1991 was the result of the company's income for this period being subject to income taxes; 1990 net income had no income taxes due to the utilization of net operating loss carryforwards from prior years.
Earnings per share increased 13 percent to $0.27 per share compared to $0.24 per share for the same period in 1990. The increase was due to fewer shares outstanding at Sept. 30, 1991, compared to Sept. 30, 1990, and a gain on the disposal of discontinued operations in fiscal 1991. For the quarter ended Sept. 30, 1991, revenues increased 25 percent to $4,860,769 compared to $3,889,839 for the same period in 1990. Income from continuing operations before taxes decreased 52 percent to $632,034 compared to $1,303,829. The decrease is primarily due to an increase in television commercial rates and costs associated with potential acquisitions. Net income decreased 33 percent to $632,034 compared to $937,514. Earnings decreased 25 percent to $0.06 per share compared to $0.08 per share for the same period in 1990. "Considering the current business climate," stated Arthur L. Toll, Regal's president and chief executive officer, "the company is pleased with these results and is optimistic regarding its recent acquisition of Synchronal Group, Inc. which we anticipate will contribute to strong growth in the coming fiscal year."
