 REEBOK ACQUIRES ABOVE THE RIM
 STOUGHTON, Mass., April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Reebok International


Ltd. (NYSE: RBK) today announced that it has acquired the assets of Above The Rim, a San Diego-based company that markets performance- oriented apparel and accessories for basketball players of all ages and levels of ability.
 Above The Rim apparel will become a separate operating unit of Reebok's Sports Division, and the Above The Rim trademark will appear on a new collection of basketball shoes designed for the indoor game. Above The Rim basketball shoes will be delivered in time for the back-to-school selling season this year. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
 Founded in 1989 by Bob Capener, a life-long basketball player and All-American guard at Brigham Young University, Above The Rim apparel is widely recognized as offering the fit, fabrics and styling that appeal to serious basketball players who aspire to perform at the highest levels of the game. The company had sales of approximately $3 million in 1991. Sales in 1992 are expected to substantially exceed that amount.
 Capener, who is sole owner of Above The Rim, will become director of basketball at Reebok, responsible for all basketball products, including Above the Rim apparel and footwear. He will report to John Morgan, vice president of product, Reebok Sports Division. Sean Fox will remain in Southern California as director of the day-to-day operations of the Above The Rim apparel unit.

 Reebok's roll-out of Above The Rim indoor gear is expected to mirror what it has accomplished in the outdoor game through its successful introduction of Blacktop(tm) basketball shoes, apparel and accessories.
 Above The Rim products are sold domestically, and in a small number of foreign markets including Japan. Reebok will market Above The Rim products in all key international markets starting in late 1992 and will support the effort with a fully integrated multi-million dollar advertising and promotional campaign.
 Basketball is the second most popular participant sport -- behind soccer -- in many European and Latin American countries. As such, the category is expected to contribute significantly to the growth of international sales for Reebok.
 Above The Rim apparel and accessories are manufactured entirely in the United States.
