RED CROSS TREATS PARENTS TO EASY HALLOWEEN SAFETY TRICKS.

``By following a few simple safety tips, parents can make this Halloween a safe and fun time for their little trick-or-treaters,'' said John Pacheco, director of American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles Health and Safety Services.

The following ``lucky 14'' safety tips will help parents and their children prevent emergencies and enjoy a safe, happy Halloween.

--Plan your route with family and friends. If possible have a parent drive you through the route the day before and have an adult accompany you Halloween night.

--Use face paint rather than masks or things that may cover your eyes.

--Cross a street only at corners.

--Look both ways before crossing the street to check for moving cars, trucks and goblins.

--Do not hide or cross the street from between parked cars.

--Use the sidewalk to walk, slither slith·er

--Be sure you have a flashlight to light your way.

--Be aware of strangers and animals. Costumes and masks can alarm pets.
