RED CROSS HONORS HOMETOWN HEROES.

SANTA CLARITA Santa Clarita, city (1990 pop. 110,642), Los Angeles co., S Calif., suburb 30 mi (48 km) NW of downtown Los Angeles, on the Santa Clara River; inc. 1987. Situated in the Santa Clara valley and nearby canyons, Santa Clarita includes the former towns of Canyon Country,  -- The American Red Cross American Red Cross: see Red Cross.  recently honored local heroes -- including a dog.

Twelve winners received awards at the American Red Cross Hometown Heroes event in Valencia because they displayed heroic or humanitarian actions in the community and their caring, compassionate and charitable actions exemplify the spirit of the Red Cross.

All nominees were honored, and one winner was chosen in each category.

Those recognized as Hometown Heroes: Michael Wright, first responder first responder First response personnel Emergency medicine A person employed in the public sector–EMT, fire fighter, police, volunteer EMS–whose duties include provision of immediate medical care in the event of an emergency; FRs have basic emergency ; Travis Christianson and Stephanie Werts, youth heroes; Teri Sullivan, educator hero; Dr. Peter Kim, medical hero; Ray Spaid, workplace hero; Richard V. Roelofs, military hero; Larry Fiscus, sports mentor; Marlene Calderone, senior hero; and Barbara Florentine and Nancy Coulter, adult heroes. Tippy tippy

It stretches through Los Angeles County and Ventura County. Its main population center is the city of Santa Clarita. The valley was part of the 48,612-acre (19,672.  sheriff's station Explorer program, Jim Quinn and Carl Goldman are recognized at the American Red Cross Hometown Heroes event recently in Valencia.

(2) The American Red Cross honored the dog Tippy II Siwula as an animal hero during a ceremony in Valencia that also recognized local humans for their heroic activities.

(3) Dr. Peter Kim, with his family, receives an award for being a local medical hero from the American Red Cross.
