Thursday, Feb. 28

Martha Stewart and the Tradition of Domestic Advice - Lecture, register at Adult Activity Center. Martha Stewart is just one of a long line of women who have offered domestic advice. Presenter is Mary Anne Beecher, UO associate professor. 1:30 p.m. Free.

Letter from E. Bunny - Send your request by March 1. Beginning March 10, E. Bunny will mail kids a special letter and story, a springtime craft idea, and a flier about the Easter mEGGa Hunt. Friday, Feb. 29

Bring on the Rain - Lecture. Register at Adult Activity Center. Learn the basics of creating your own rainwater harvesting system. Presenter is Tammie Stark, a consultant with Eugene Rainwater. 1:30 p.m. Free.

Saturday, March 1

Chronic Pain Management Workshop - Register at Adult Activity Center. For ages 18 and older. Learn from seven local experts how to manage chronic pain. Lunch provided. 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. $5.

Early Childhood Recreation - Stroller Stroll. Bring your little ones on a guided walk. Meet at the Dorris Ranch kiosk, 205 Dorris St. Ages birth to 3. 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. $2.

Specialized Recreation - Cascade Raptor Center. For ages 18 and older. Visit birds of prey. Bring a sack lunch. 11 a.m to 2 p.m. Register at Community Recreation Center. $12 fee.

Specialized Recreation - Eugene Generals hockey game. For ages 18 and older. Register at Community Recreation Center. Support the local hockey team and have dinner. 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Fee $5. Bring $20 for dinner and admission.

Monday, March 3

Simple Thai Cooking, More New Dishes - Sample Thai food. Register at Adult Activity Center. For ages 18 and older. Instructor is Saman Harnsongkram, owner of Bangkok Grill at Saturday Market. Weekly through March 17. 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. $30 for three classes.

Team Sports meeting - Softball for summer 2008. For ages 18 and older. All new teams should have a representative present, 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center. Registration is on March 31.

Tai Chi - Chinese exercise system improves balance and flexibility. Instructor is Don Hildenbrand. For ages 18 and older. Register at Community Recreation Center. Mondays and Thursdays through March 20, 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. $28.

Gung Fu - A low-impact workout to restore energy and reduce stress. Register at Community Recreation Center. For ages 18 and older. Mondays and Thursdays through March 20, 8:15 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. $42.

Tuesday, March 4

Computer Basics: Level 2 - Register at Adult Activity Center. For ages 50 and older. Prerequisite Computer Basics 1. Tuesdays and Thursdays through March 13, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. $35.

Make Your Own Web Page - For ages 50 and older. Register at Adult Activity Center. Prior Internet experience is recommended. Tuesdays and Thursdays through March 13, 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. $35.

Gym Climbing Introduction - Register at Community Recreation Center. For ages 18 and older. Held at Regional Sports Center, 200 S. 32nd St. Four-week course covers the basics of rock climbing. Tuesdays through March 25, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. $80.

Wednesday, March 5

Aging: Exposing the Myths, Secrets and Lies - Four-session class. Register at Adult Activity Center by March 3. For ages 50 and older. Presenter is Carolyn Higgins. Wednesdays through March 26, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. $24.

Star Trek Series - At Adult Activity Center. For ages 50 and older. See and discuss "City on the Edge of Forever" and "Star Trek New Voyages: In Harm's Way." 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Free.

Gym Climbing Introduction - Register at Community Recreation Center. Held at Regional Sports Center, 200 S. 32nd Street. Four-week course covers the basics of rock climbing. Wednesdays through March 26, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. $80.

Dog Obedience Class - Instructor Jan Bradfeldt of the Snow Creek Farm Obedience School will teach basic commands. Register at Community Recreation Center. For adults ages 18 and older. Wednesdays through April 30. 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. $100.

Thursday, March 6

Mount Angel Abbey and Benedictine Sisters Monastery - Day trip for ages 50 and older. Register at Adult Activity Center. 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. $40 including box lunch.

Chi Walking - Register at Adult Activity Center by March 4. For ages 50 and older. Chi walking emphasizes a balanced form of walking for healthy exercise. Instructor is Keith McConnell. 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 6 and 13. $5 for both sessions.

2008 Springfield Puppet Festival - Through March 25 at Springfield Library and Wildish Community Theater. All events are free for the whole family. Information at 726-3766.
