The prospect of that much cash had even the uninitiated lotto players crawling out of the woodwork.

Of course it wasn't his only Valentine's Day gift, but he couldn't pass up the chance. So he stood outside an Arco gas station on Canoga Avenue and Oxnard Street meticulously choosing numbers corresponding with his wife's birthday, his wedding date and Valentine's Day.

The excitement wasn't confined to players. Ticket sellers were anticipating lucrative days ahead, despite the long lines and crowds. The owner of a retail outlet retail outlet npunto de venta

There were so many people inside the small Arco station that Albino had to break up the line - gasoline customers on the right, ticket buyers on the left.

The station took in $6,000 in SuperLotto Plus sales Wednesday and workers expected about double the sales for the upcoming jackpot.

``The customers were excited because of the jackpot,'' Albino said. ``This was the first time I was doubly busy.''

At a Canoga Park 7-Eleven store, employee J.P. Dhillon said there was $7,000 in SuperLotto Plus sales Wednesday, with lines reaching to the back of the store.

``This is the busiest I've seen it,'' Dhillon said. ``We'll be busy all day Saturday,'' she said.
