RECOGNITION INTRODUCES THE XDR OFFICEREADER, AN ENTRY-LEVEL FORMS PROCESSING SOLUTION

DALLAS, July 12 /PRNewswire/ -- Recognition International Inc.'s (NYSE: REC) Systems Division announced today the introduction of a new low-cost solution for business forms processing, the XDR(R) OfficeReader(TM). The XDR OfficeReader provides a complete data capture system to reduce the manual labor of data capture. The XDR OfficeReader can be used as a front-end processor for an image system processing business forms such as insurance claims, enrollment applications, tax reporting, payroll and wage reporting.
The XDR OfficeReader combines scanning, image character recognition and high-speed data correction/entry on a 486 PC platform. It is capable of processing volumes of 3,000 to 8,000 documents a day depending on the application. The XDR OfficeReader provides the unique ability to grow the system as business volumes increase by simply adding XDR character recognition boards, disks and additional workstations. A basic system price begins at $65,000.
"The OfficeReader is easily integrated into existing departmental environments. Today, the OfficeReader is successfully processing HCFA 1500 medical claims at a site in the United States and a pension accounting application in Europe," said Fred Zucker, president of Recognition's Systems Division. "Recognition can now offer the marketplace an entry-level solution, in addition to our mid- and high- end range of high-performance forms processing solutions," according to Zucker.
The latest addition to the XDR product family, this entry-level system combines a unique combination of hardware, software and development tools to obtain the highest quality character recognition efficiently converting scanned images containing handprint and degraded machine print into ASCII data. Data correction is performed with low- cost PC workstations, using a full featured image data entry system. Depending on processing volumes, a choice of scanners may be selected to process a variety of documents.
Recognition International Inc., headquartered in Dallas, is a leading international open systems supplier of high-performance document recognition systems, image and workflow software, and related customer services.
NOTE: Recognition and XDR are registered trademarks and OfficeReader is a trademark of Recognition International Inc. in the United States and other countries.
