 RECEPTION TO HONOR DETROITER
 AS THE NEW CONSUL TO IVORY COAST, WEST AFRICA
 Harold Varner, president of Sims-Varner and Associates, Inc., architects, engineers and planners, will be honored at a reception from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, June 28, at the Museum of African American History, 301 Frederick Douglass, in Detroit's Cultural Center.
 Varner is being honored for his appointment to the position of Honorary Consul for the Republic of Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast), West Africa. Cote d'Ivoire's Consulate will be the second diplomatic African office located in the City of Detroit. The first was the Consulate of Liberia.
 His Excellency, Charles Gomis, Cote d'Ivoire's ambassador to the United States, will preside at the reception.
 Leaders from business, education, community and government will attend the reception to honor Varner.
