RECENT ORDERS FOR THERMO PROCESS SYSTEMS
HEAT-TREATING EQUIPMENT TOTAL MORE THAN $3.5 MILLION
WALTHAM, Mass., Sept. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- The Holcroft division of Thermo Process Systems Inc. (AMEX: TPI) recently received three orders for its heat-treating equipment totaling more than $3.5 million.
Among these was a $2.4 million order from Ontario-based Valiant Machine and Tool, Inc. for three roller-hearth systems that will be installed in a Ford Motor Corporation plant to treat specialty steel sheets that are formed into structural components for automobiles and light trucks. AEC America Corporation of The Netherlands ordered a batch furnace line worth nearly $1 million that will be used in a Siberian mining operation. Finally, a Michigan metallurgical services firm, Specialty Steel Treating, ordered its first Holcroft vacuum furnace system.
"We'd like to believe that this activity is a sign that the capital goods industries are beginning to recover from the depressed market conditions," said Thomas P. Plunkett, president of Thermo Process Systems. "These contracts have contributed to a growing backlog of orders for our thermal-processing equipment."
Thermo Process Systems designs, manufactures, and sells advanced custom-engineered thermal-processing systems for the treatment of toxic wastes and the automated heat treating of metal parts. The company also provides services for the remediation of petroleum-laden soils, in addition to a comprehensive range of metallurgical processes. Thermo Process Systems is a public subsidiary of Thermo Electron Corporation (NYSE: TMO).
