REBNY to honor six industry leaders at 108th annual banquet.

, has announced the honorees for its 108th Annual Banquet.

World Trade Center leaseholder Larry A. Silverstein and current Real Estate Board of New York Chairman Burton P. Resnick, along with Frederick Kane Marek, Benjamin Fox, Matthew Fox, Matthew (b. Timothy James) (1940–  ) priest, theologian; born in Madison, Wis. He nearly lost his legs to polio at age 12; upon his recovery he became devoted to the Catholic Church.  Duthie and Mitchell A. Arkin are the six honorees for this year's banquet. The banquet will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2004 at the New York Hilton. "It gives us great pleasure each year to honor six leaders who represent the best of the real estate industry," said Steven Spinola, president of the Real Estate Board of New York. "I cannot think of more suitable candidates for each individual award than these selected honorees."

The Harry B. Helmsley Distinguished New Yorker award will be presented to Larry Silverstein Larry A. Silverstein (born 1932 in Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, New York) is an American billionaire real estate investor and operator and the head of Silverstein Properties, a real estate development group.  of Silverstein Properties, Inc., and a former REBNY REBNY Real Estate Board of New York  chairman.

The award applauds Mr. Silverstein's outstanding efforts to plan the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site, and his lifetime of commitment and generosity to New York City. He is chair of the Realty Foundation and a lifelong contributor and leader of the City's charitable and cultural institutions.

Burton P. Resnick, who stepped in as REBNY chairman in 2001 following the death of Bernard Mendik, having previously served as chairman prior to Mr. Mendik's 10-year term, will receive the Bernard H. Mendik Lifetime Leadership in Real Estate award. Mr. Resnick will be presented the award for his many years of dedication to the industry and his commitment to the Real Estate Board. Mr. Resnick worked side by side with Mr. Mendik, providing outstanding leadership for nearly two decades.

The Kenneth R. Gerrety Humanitarian award will be presented to Frederick Kane Marek of The Vortex Group, LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

, who initiated and spearheaded a fund drive among REBNY members to make the holiday season a memorable time for children living in Lower Manhattan Lower Manhattan is the southernmost part of the island of Manhattan, the main island and center of business and government of the City of New York. Lower Manhattan is generally defined as the area delineated on the north by Chambers Street, on the west by the Hudson River (North  who were affected by the events of 9-11.

Benjamin Fox of Newmark New Spectrum Retail LLC will receive the Louis Smadbeck Broker Recognition award to celebrate his years of success in retail leasing.

Mr. Fox Mr. Fox were a band, part of the British "electric folk" or "folk rock" movement, circa 1970.

Matthew Duthie of Reckson Realty Corp. will receive the George M. Brooker Management Executive of the Year award, which is presented in memory of the late Mr. Brooker, the first vice president for REBNY's Management Division. Mr. Duthie has served as a strong leader of REBNY's Management Division, always giving of his talent and time.

The Young Men's/Women's Real Estate Association's (YM/WREA) Man of the Year award will be presented to Mitchell A. Arkin, director at Cushman & Wakefield.

Mr. Arkin has made tremendous accomplishments in his career thus far, negotiating thousands of transactions and serving as a role model for commercial brokers.

Born in Yorktown, Virginia, Griffin pursued in classical studies before studying law.
