REBNY REBNY Real Estate Board of New York  began 1896, two years before modern-day Adj. 1. modern-day - characteristic of the present; "contemporary trends in design"; "the role of computers in modern-day medicine"

 Manhattan, with its five boroughs, was born.

The Annual Banquet A banquet is a large public meal or feast, complete with main courses and desserts. It usually serves a purpose, such as a charitable gathering, a ceremony, or a celebration. Sometimes a banquet consists of only desserts, but it is advisable to include main courses as well. , in those first few years, was a dinner held in REBNY's boardroom. In the 1930's, membership grew to 100 and the Annual Banquet became a blacktie affair, moving to a more formal and fitting setting.

Today, REBNY is the city's leading real estate trade association with 11,000 members. The board represents major commercial and residential property owners and builders, brokers and managers, banks, financial service companies, utilities, attorneys, architects, contractors and other individuals and institutions professionally interested in the City's real estate.

The board is involved in crucial municipal matters including tax policy, city planning city planning, process of planning for the improvement of urban centers in order to provide healthy and safe living conditions, efficient transport and communication, adequate public facilities, and aesthetic surroundings.  and zoning, rental conditions, land use policy, building codes and legislation.
