The Real Estate Board of New York New York, state, United States
New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of
(REBNY REBNY Real Estate Board of New York ) is widely perceived as New York City's most prestigious and sought-after real estate trade organization.

Through REBNY, New York's most talented and influential real estate professionals work with the city's political infrastructure to promote public policies that expand New York's economy, encourage the development and renovation of commercial and residential property, enhance the city's appeal to investors as a business location and facilitate property management.

Why become a REBNY member? Aside from the REBNY mark of excellence, members benefit from participating in a range of professional and civic activities that offer countless networking opportunities and valuable educational resources.

For example, REBNY hosted a terrorism awareness seminar in February that drew 400 members. These often sold-out events enable members to exchange information and encourage the free flow of ideas.

A unique organization, REBNY is the only real estate trade organization in the country that brings together a wide assortment assortment /as·sort·ment/ (ah-sort´ment) the random distribution of nonhomologous chromosomes to daughter cells in metaphase of the first meiotic division.

Monthly membership breakfasts, luncheons and committee meetings often feature speakers, both senior public officials and industry leaders, which keep REBNY members current on issues that directly affect their businesses.

In 2006, REBNY has hosted a panel of major property owners, including Richard LeFrak, Howard Milstein, William Rudin and Robert Speyer, as well as Richard Barth Richard Barth (1850-1908) was a left-handed German violin virtuoso, conductor, music teacher and composer in the circle of Johannes Brahms. REBNY brokers have access to a vast amount of resources and opportunities they can tap into, helping them to effectively market available commercial and residential property and attract and retain tenants/sellers/ buyers. Their collective knowledge, extensive resources and business savvy make REBNY members the most sought after brokers, owners and managers in Manhattan. For example, REBNY residential members have the REBNY Listing Service (RLS Restless legs syndrome (RLS)

), which allows them to co-broke efficiently and effectively providing sellers with more visibility and buyers with more options.

Members also receive a number of REBNY publications, published by the Board's Research Department, including the retail report, issued twice a year, and its quarterly residential reports. In 2006, REBNY unveiled the first ever Brooklyn Residential Sales Report, giving brokers the inside track on this wildly popular residential market.

REBNY's market reports are the leading authority on market trends. Aside from providing members with important information about trends in the residential and commercial markets, they are frequently referenced by top news outlets, such as The New York Times and the New York Post The New York Post is the 13th-oldest newspaper published in the United States and the oldest to have been published continually as a daily.[3] Since 1976, it has been owned by Australian-born billionaire Rupert Murdoch's News Corporation and is one of the 10 .

This year has marked a number of milestones for REBNY. Our organization has grown to 11,000 members and counting. Members of the board include some of the Big Apple's most highly regarded real estate professionals. We have also seen significant success on the legislative front in 2006. REBNY has successfully lobbied for the passage of important state legislation, expected to be signed by Governor George Pataki George Elmer Pataki (born June 24, 1945) is an American politician who was the 57th Governor of New York serving from January 1995 until January 1, 2007. Also in 2006, REBNY's Residential Management Council, in cooperation with the Council of New York Cooperatives and Condominiums, released a Co-op Board Admissions Guide to assist co-op boards in establishing admissions policies and procedures Policies and Procedures are a set of documents that describe an organization's policies for operation and the procedures necessary to fulfill the policies.
