REBECCA POLLACK NAMED EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT MOTION PICTURE PRODUCTION FOR UNITED ARTISTS

 SANTA MONICA, Calif., Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Rebecca Pollack has been appointed executive vice president of Motion Picture Production for United Artists, effective immediately, it was announced today by United Artists President John Calley. In her new post, Pollack will be responsible for the acquisition, development, and supervision through production of projects for United Artists. She will report directly to Calley.
 In making the announcement, Calley praised Pollack, who becomes his first appointment to the recently re-established film company. "I am thrilled that Rebecca has decided to join United Artists," he stated. "I think she is extraordinary and one of the most exciting young executives in the film industry today."
 Pollack comes to United Artists from MGM where she has served as senior vice president of Motion Picture Production since 1991. During her tenure, she has overseen such critical and audience successes as the Academy Award-winning "Thelma & Louise," "Benny & Joon," and "Of Mice and Men." She has also been responsible for MGM's upcoming comedy "Clean Slate," starring Dana Carvey and directed by Mick Jackson, and the much-anticipated action-thriller "Blown Away," starring Jeff Bridges and Tommy Lee Jones.
 Originally joining MGM in 1986, she worked with then Chairman Alan Ladd Jr. as an executive assistant and reader. She later segued to Pathe Entertainment, becoming director of Creative Affairs, and was subsequently promoted to vice president and then senior vice president. When MGM took over Pathe, Pollack returned to the studio as a senior vice president of Production.
