REAL-TIME STOCK MARKET QUOTES AND SPORTS INFORMATION NOW AVAILABLE FOR CONSUMERS IN CLEVELAND AND COLUMBUS

SAN MATEO, Calif., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Data Broadcasting Corp. (DBC) (NASDAQ: DBCC) announced today that it has added Cleveland and Columbus radio stations to its data transmission network, opening these markets to state-of-the-art transmission of financial and sports information to consumers using hand-held monitors and PC-based receivers.
DBC's popular financial market data services will now be transmitted via WCLV-FM in Cleveland and WCBE-FM in Columbus, bringing the number of FM stations carrying the DBC datafeed around the country to 47. Using sideband transmitters, these stations continuously broadcast real-time and background financial quotes and Dow Jones news headlines to DBC customers using either Signal (PC-based) or QuoTrek portable, hand-held receivers. The same feed also carries real-time and background sports and racing information to customers using SporTrax and RaceTrax hand- held receivers.
Signal receivers can also take the DBC feed off of the vertical blanking interval of several cable-TV networks or via subscriber-owned satellite receivers in addition to FM receivers.
"We are pleased to add these cities to our network," said DBC vice president Fred McEnany. "They are major business and sports centers that we believe are excellent markets for the broadcast of cost- effective and dependable financial and sports information."
Subscribers to DBC's Signal quote service can also enjoy access to SignalReports. Broadcast to a Signal subscriber's personal computer prior to and following the close of the major U.S. exchanges, SignalReports provide market news, technical analysis and trading advice.
QuoTrek is a portable, hand-held, battery-powered receiver that displays market data on an LCD screen. SporTrax and RaceTrax are modified versions of QuoTrek. Last year, DBC added the sports and horse racing datafeed provided by DataSport Inc. to its network.
Subscribers to the PC-based Signal service can analyze the market data they receive using more than 130 different technical analysis, equity, futures and options software programs that can be installed on their own PC.
DBC is the leading provider of stock market quote services and other specialized market data vital to more than 23,000 subscribers worldwide.
