Hooray for the articles on National Tap Dance Day ["How Tap Got Its Day," Dance Magazine, May, page 56], the Tony Awards [Dance Theater The German Tanztheater ("dance theatre") grew out of German expressionist dance. Its most influential performers are Pina Bausch and Susanne Linke. , "Empty Chair at the Tony Awards," July, page 28], "From Africa to Avant-Garde" [June, page 70], etc. Thanks for recognizing America's contribution to dance, which includes ballet and modern dance but encompasses much more.

I am a ballet dancer who has always been a fan of tap, jazz, and musical theater dance. Your inclusive coverage brings respect and historical significance to these American dance arts. Recognition is important to dancers' morale and the health of any dance style.

We applaud your decision to honor Barbara Hamblin with the story about her career [The Teach-Learn Connection, Dance Magazine, June, page 66]. In the early 1980s, long before it was popular and because of Barbie Barbie
