WINNIPEG, MANITOBA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 1997--I.G. Investment Management, Ltd. ("IGIM"), a subsidiary of Investors Group Inc. and a member of the Power Financial group of companies, today announced that as a result of a clarification of the issued and outstanding shares of Central Asia Goldfields Corp. (the "Issuer") by its data base service providers, IGIM's holdings in the capital of the issuer by one or more of its mutual fund and private client managed accounts stood at 11.2 percent as at February 28th, 1997 rather than 8.56 percent as reflected in IGIM's Press Release dated February 7, 1997.

IGIM specifically disclaims any beneficial ownership of the reported shares, but as investment manager it maintains exclusive power to exercise investment control or direction over such shares for its managed accounts.

IGIM managed accounts may, from time to time, acquire additional shares, dispose of some or all of the existing or additional shares or may continue to hold the shares.

This press release is issued in anticipation of the alternative reporting exemption described in the recently proposed OSC Rule respecting early warning reporting. Neither IGIM nor any of its managed accounts presently intend to:

a) make a formal take-over bid for shares of the Issuer referred to above;

b) propose a transaction that would constitute a take-over bid in reliance on an exemption in the Securities Act (Ontario); or

c) propose a reorganization, amalgamation, merger, arrangement or similar business combination with any of the Issuers referred to above which would result in IGIM's managed accounts controlling the company, alone or with others.

To the best of its knowledge, IGIM and its managed accounts do not in the ordinary course of business receive material facts or changes about the Issuers referred to above which have not been publicly disclosed.
