Brit air was named 1994 Airline of the Year by the European Regional Airlines Association and received the Regional Airline of the Year award from Air Transport World magazine in 1995.

Xavier Leclercq, president of Brit air noted: "The exceptional operating economics of the Canadair Regional Jet have made it a valuable asset in our fleet. We fully expect that the new Canadair Regional Jet Series 700, with its additional seats, will deliver even greater efficiencies."

With its new aircraft, Brit air will have a true family of 50-passenger to 70-passenger regional jet aircraft with which to meet Europe's deregulated and highly competitive airline market. The European air travel market has grown by six per cent annually over the last decade and shows no signs of slowing down.

Brit air's fully-owned subsidiary Icare will introduce its CRJ flight simulator flight simulator, device providing a controlled environment in which a flight trainee can experience conditions approximating those of actual flight. Said Pierre Lortie, president of Bombardier Regional Aircraft Division, "Introduction of the CRJ Series 700 offers successful regional airlines a growth path to increase passenger-carrying capacity on routes developed by the smaller Canadair Regional Jet airliners, to extend their reach from hub airports Africa
