 RAYTHEON NAMES SWAM AS APPLIANCE GROUP EXECUTIVE
 LEXINGTON, Mass., Dec. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Raytheon Company


(NYSE: RTN) today announced that Robert L. Swam has been named vice president and group executive for its Appliance Group.
 Swam has an excellent track record in industry and management. He spent 24 years with the Black and Decker Corporation in Towson, Md., rising through the organization to become executive vice president and chief operating officer.
 From Black and Decker, Swam went on to become president, chief operating officer and chief executive officer of Easco Corporation of Baltimore and president and chief executive of Arcata Graphics Company, also of Baltimore. Most recently, he has been an independent management consultant.
 "We are delighted to have a person of Bob Swam's caliber and capabilities to lead our Appliance Group," said Dennis J. Picard, Raytheon chairman and chief executive officer. "We look forward to his contributions in continuing to strengthen our competitive position in the appliance business."
 Max E. Bleck, Raytheon's president, had been acting Appliance Group executive following the retirement of Henry J. Meyer on Oct. 1, 1991. Raytheon's Appliance Group consists of Amana Refrigeration, Inc., Caloric Corporation and Speed Queen Company.
 Swam will assume his new role Jan. 6, 1992 and be based at Raytheon headquarters in Lexington, Mass.
 Swam and his wife, who currently live in Towson, will relocate to the Boston area.
 Amana markets a complete line of major appliances and central air conditioning and heating equipment. Caloric sells a full line of gas, electric, microwave and combination cooling ranges and other appliances. Speed Queen sells laundry equipment for use in homes and commercial laundries.
 In addition to appliances, Raytheon is active in electronics, aviation, energy and environmental services, publishing and construction. The company had sales of $9.3 billion in 1990 and employs 72,700 worldwide.
