RAYTHEON'S BEECH UNIT WINS $22 MILLION ARMY AIRCRAFT CONTRACT

WICHITA, Kan., April 7 -- Beech Aircraft Corporation, a unit of Raytheon Company (NYSE: RTN), has been chosen by the U.S. Army to provide five RC-12P electronic intelligence aircraft, for delivery between September 1995 and June 1996.
The Army has awarded Beech a contract for $22,125,000 to begin work on the program. A firm fixed price for the total contract has yet to be negotiated. The current contract represents 75 percent of the maximum firm fixed price.
The RC-12P is the latest in a series of electronic intelligence aircraft based on the commercial Beech Super King Air B200 business transport. The aircraft are built at Beech facilities in Wichita, Kan., and then flown to Beech's Salina, Kan., division for modification and installation of mission-specific equipment.
Beech has built increasingly sophisticated electronic intelligence aircraft, based on its commercial models, for the U.S. military services since the 1950s.
Beech is a leading aviation company. It manufactures, markets, and supports piston-powered, jetprop, and light jet aircraft for the world's commercial, military, and regional airline markets.
Raytheon, headquartered in Lexington, Mass., is a $9 billion diversified technology company with sales in four business segments: Electronics, Aircraft Products, Energy and Environmental, and Major Appliances.
