      RAYMOND A. PETERSON ELECTED VICE PRESIDENT OF ALCO STANDARD
    VALLEY FORGE, Pa., Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Ray B. Mundt, chairman and chief executive officer of Alco Standard Corporation (NYSE: ASN), announced today that the company's board of directors has elected Raymond A. Peterson a vice president of Alco Standard.
    Peterson, 57, joined Alco Standard in 1975 and served as executive vice president of Carpenter/Offutt Paper in Los Angeles from 1978 until 1981 when he was appointed president.  He served in this capacity until 1985 when he was appointed president of Unisource in Long Beach, Calif. Peterson held this position at Unisource, the largest operating company within Paper Corporation of America, until May 1991, when he was appointed president of Paper Corporation of America, a position he continues to hold.
    With $3.6 billion in annual sales, Paper Corporation of America, headquartered in Valley Forge, is one of the largest distributors and converters of paper and related products in North America.
    In making this announcement, Mundt stated, "Pike Peterson brings proven leadership and management success to these additional responsibilities within the corporation."
    Peterson, a native of Appleton, Wis., is a graduate of Lawrence College and the Stanford University Executive Program.
    Alco Standard Corporation, also headquartered in Valley Forge, is a publicly owned distribution and services company.  For its fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 1991, revenues were $4.8 billion.
