RAIN DOESN'T DETER RUNNERS JINGLE BELL JOG LURES 141 INTO PUDDLES.

PALMDALE - Despite threatening clouds and courses made soggy by recent rains, more than 140 runners, joggers and fitness walkers participated in the 5K and kids' half-mile Elf Run courses at the Jingle Bell Jog on Dec. 21 in Marie Kerr Park.

 paced the 118 runners who completed the all-dirt, mud puddle-punctuated 5K course, with Rogers nosing out Miller at the finish line. Both were timed at 16 minutes and 41 seconds. Lara Coppinger was the fastest female in the 5K, finishing 18th overall in 19:47. Rogers and Coppinger were rewarded with custom mugs for their efforts.

Brayann Gliwa, 10, led the 23 children age 10 and under who circled the soccer and softball fields during the Elf Run, finishing the half-mile course in 3:21. Cody Earnest, 9, led the boys and finished eight seconds later in 3:29. The top three male and female finishers in the Elf Run received custom medals, as did age-group leaders in the 5K race.

Sponsored by the High Desert Runners, the Antelope Valley's distance running club, the third annual Jingle Bell Jog was staffed by members of the Highland High School Highland High School or Highlands High School may refer to:

 cross country team.

Two Highland runners, Ashley Cambaliza and Danielle Ramirez, assisted the club with managing the event and also made custom jingle bell and candy cane brooches for the first 100 entrants.
