RAIDERS OUT TO AVENGE PREVIOUS LOSS; VAQUEROS RETURN FOR BOWL GAME.

Byline: Jim Inghram Daily News Staff Writer

In a season that started with mostly downs, the Downs, The, roadstead, c.8 mi (13 km) long and 6 mi (9.7 km) wide, between North Foreland and South Foreland, off Deal, Kent, SE England, in the English Channel. It is protected, except from strong south winds, by the Goodwin Sands and the coast.  ups have been in control for the latter part of it.

The Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California.  football team appeared in danger of missing a bowl game for the first time in 10 years midway Midway, island group (2 sq mi/5.2 sq km), central Pacific, c.1,150 mi (1,850 km) NW of Honolulu, comprising Sand and Eastern islands with the surrounding atoll. Discovered by Americans in 1859, Midway was annexed in 1867. A cable station was opened in 1903.  through the 1997 season when the team was 1-3 and struggling to hang onto the football. But sometime just after that third loss, a change occurred that allowed the team to win five of its next six to tie for the Western State Conference Southern Division title and qualify for today's Western State Bowl against Santa Barbara Santa Barbara (săn'tə bär`brə, –bərə), city (1990 pop. 85,571), seat of Santa Barbara co., S Calif., on the Pacific Ocean; inc. 1850.  today at 1 p.m.

``To the guys credit,'' Moorpark coach Jim Bittner said, ``they turned around when their backs were to the wall.''

THe Vaqueros (6-4) have the same record as the Raiders, but Santa Barbara won the previous meeting between the two 38-20 in October.

It was back when the Raiders were struggling and first-team all-conference defensive lineman Lineman or linesman may refer to:
  • Lineman (occupation), one who installs and maintains electrical, telephone, and/or telegraph lines
  • Wichita Lineman
Kevin Kos thinks that loss will give Moorpark the edge.

``I think we've worked harder and become better since then,'' Kos said. ``I know our defense will be ready for this game.'' Kos anchors a defensive line that contributed three sacks in the Raiders' crucial victory over L.A. Valley in the regular season finale For the music notation program, see .

A finale (italian word) is a closing part, act or movement of a dramatic or musical composition, or more generally any event or procedure with a dramatically concluding effect.
that allowed Moorpark to make the bowl game.

The Raiders had three players named to the first team defense. Besides Kos there was linebacker Judd Granzow and defensive back Michael Boyd.

The Vaqueros are led by quarterback Anthony Ramos, who at 5-8, 160-pounds is not the prototypical sized quarterback, but his speed causes problems for defenses. Tight-end Justin Schantz (6-4, 263) and wide receivers Colin Hagerty (6-2, 210) and Dan Connelly (6-6, 235) provide big targets for Ramos. Ricky Joseph and Kenji Saito are the team's main running backs.

``They have some size,'' Bittner said. ``That creates problems.''

Another concern for Bittner is the prospect of rain. ``It supposed to rain,'' he said. ``I hope it doesn't. It might give them an advantage.''
