RAE Systems Announces AreaRAE Responder, the First ATEX Certified Wireless Multi-Gas Monitor for the EU Market.SAN JOSE, Calif. -- RAE Systems Inc. (AMEX AMEX See: American Stock Exchange :RAE), a leading global developer and manufacturer of rapidly-deployable, multi-sensor chemical and radiation detection monitors and networks for homeland security and industrial applications, today announced the launch of the AreaRAE Responder(R) and RAELink 2-E for the European market. The AreaRAE Responder is the first multi-gas, wireless, monitoring system with ATEX ATEX ATmosphere EXplosibles (French: Explosive Atmospheres) ATEX Anti-Terrorism Exercise ATEX ATM Tributary Extension (Tellabs) Certification for use in hazardous environments. The RAELink 2-E(R) is the companion wireless gateway for other sensor products. Key applications for the AreaRAE Responder include fire brigades dealing with chemical spills, industrial plants for "hot work permits" during plant shut downs and in refineries and chemical plants for worker safety. "The AreaRAE Responder and RAELink2-E operate in the 869MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc. frequency band, allowing license-free operation in most European Union European Union (EU), name given since the ratification (Nov., 1993) of the Treaty of European Union, or Maastricht Treaty, to the European Community countries," said Andrew Balaschak, RAE Systems director of integrated system products. "Using the maximum authorized transmission power and powerful mesh networking capabilities, AreaRAE Responder and RAELink2-E modems can monitor hazardous environments from distances up to 3 km from the base station controller." The AreaRAE Responder supports up to five simultaneous gas sensors including: oxygen, lower explosive limit and photoionization detector for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), as well as any two of the following toxic gas sensors: ammonia, carbon monoxide carbon monoxide, chemical compound, CO, a colorless, odorless, tasteless, extremely poisonous gas that is less dense than air under ordinary conditions. It is very slightly soluble in water and burns in air with a characteristic blue flame, producing carbon dioxide; , chlorine, hydrogen cyanide hydrogen cyanide, HCN, colorless, volatile, and extremely poisonous chemical compound whose vapors have a bitter almond odor. It melts at −14°C; and boils at 26°C;. It is miscible in all proportions with water or ethanol and is soluble in ether. , hydrogen sulfide hydrogen sulfide, chemical compound, H2S, a colorless, extremely poisonous gas that has a very disagreeable odor, much like that of rotten eggs. It is slightly soluble in water and is soluble in carbon disulfide. , nitric oxide nitric oxide or nitrogen monoxide, a colorless gas formed by the combustion of nitrogen and oxygen as given by the reaction: energy + N2 + O2 → 2NO; m.p. −163.6°C;; b.p. −151.8°C;. , phosphine phosphine 1. PH3, a toxic war gas called hydrogen phosphide. 2. a coal tar dye; called Philadelphia yellow. and sulfur dioxide. The AreaRAE Responder and RAELink 2E communicate through the ProRAE Remote(R) base station control software on a standard personal computer or laptop running the Windows XP operating system. The ProRAE Remote software is available in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Each network can support up to eight AreaRAE Responder or compatible portable monitors. The wireless network also supports RAE Systems' ATEX certified MultiRAE Plus(TM), ppbRAE Plus(TM) and MiniRAE 2000(TM) handheld gas monitors by using RAELink2-E modems. The AreaRAE network also supports an integrated wireless weather station and a number of third-party monitors for chemical weapons detection. The AreaRAE Responder is packaged in a rugged, weather-resistant stainless steel stainless steel: see steel. stainless steel Any of a family of alloy steels usually containing 10–30% chromium. The presence of chromium, together with low carbon content, gives remarkable resistance to corrosion and heat. package. It is ATEX certified for EX II 3G EEx nAL IIC See infranet. T6, operation in environments where hazardous gases and vapors may be present. AreaRAE Responder is also available as part of RAE Systems' Rapid Deployment Kit(TM) (RDK RDK Reference Design Kit RDK Red Dragon Karate (compilation of different major styles, mostly based on Shotokan) RDK Reload Delay Kit RDK Report Developer Kit RDK Rapid Deployment Kit RDK Re-Distribution Kit RDK Render Developer Kit (TM)). The RDK delivers a complete system of four AreaRAE Responder monitors, a turn-key base station controller and all required accessories in easy-to-carry transport cases. The AreaRAE Responder provides a rapid deployment gas detection solution for fire brigade hazardous materials teams and other first responder first responder First response personnel Emergency medicine A person employed in the public sector–EMT, fire fighter, police, volunteer EMS–whose duties include provision of immediate medical care in the event of an emergency; FRs have basic emergency organizations. It can be used for temporary to semi-permanent industrial applications such as petrochemical plant maintenance. Additionally, AreaRAE Responder can be used for air monitoring at important public events. There are over 500 AreaRAE networks deployed in North America, where it has become the de-facto industry standard in wireless gas detection for rapid deployment in hazardous environment monitoring. The hazardous environment AreaRAE Responder and RAELink 2-E are available now through RAE Systems' European subsidiaries and distributors.
