Netscape Conference Software Based on H.323 Standard For Conferencing

RADVision and Netscape Communications Corporation (NASDAQ:NSCP) today announced that Netscape has licensed software from RADVision to implement the standard H.323 protocol in Netscape Conference(TM) software. Netscape Conference is the real-time collaboration component of Netscape Communicator(TM), an integrated client software suite allowing users to communicate, access and share information on Intranets and the Internet. Netscape Conference includes full duplex audio and data conferencing capabilities that allow users to both speak and be heard simultaneously.

The H.323 protocol defines audio, video and data communications across networks such as Intranets and the Internet, and has been submitted to the ITV-T for adoption as an industry standard. It allows users with any H.323-based software, such as Netscape Conference, to easily communicate with each other. This interoperability is expected to lead manufacturers of communications and networking products, computers, videoconferencing systems, IP phone systems and others to adopt this protocol. RADVisions H.323 technology supports multiple platforms and provides the necessary functionality to enable Internet-based telephony and telecommunications capabilities.
