RADIATION SYSTEMS, INC., RECEIVES NEW CONTRACT AWARDS
WITH TOTAL VALUE OF $10.0 MILLION
STERLING, Va., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Radiation Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: RADS), today announced that it has been awarded contracts with a total value, inclusive of options, of $10.0 million. Company President and Chief Executive Officer Richard E. Thomas said the new contracts evidence the company's continued marketing success in the international marketplace and the company's growing business in refurbishing antennas for the Navy.
Thomas said that the largest contract, awarded to the company's Duluth, Ga.-based SatCom Technologies Division, is valued at a total of $4.7 million, inclusive of a $2.2 million option. The contract calls for the company to install Intelsat "A" stations in an unspecified foreign country. He said that the same division has received various smaller orders for satellite system components totalling an additional $2.3 million. Also in the international marketplace, the company's CSA Antennas Division, based in Rochester, England, has received a contract valued at $1.8 million for tactical antenna masts. Thomas said the contract is a follow-on order of a standard product.
Thomas said that the company's Electromechanical Systems Division (EMS), based in Largo, Fla., has been awarded a $1.2 million contract by the Naval Sea Systems Command. He said EMS is the Navy-designated overhaul point for the AN/SPS-49 shipboard radar antenna pedestals and that this contract represents a continuation of that business under a basic ordering agreement. "Work under this basic ordering agreement will increase in value as additional work orders are released," Thomas said. "As a cost-efficient alternative for the Navy during a period of defense budget cutbacks, refurbishment is providing Radiation Systems a strong base of ongoing work," he said.
Radiation Systems, Inc., designs, manufactures and installs a broad range of antenna turnkey systems and components for radar, air traffic control, tactical military, satellite communications, terrestrial microwave and other specialized uses throughout the world.
