Biography: Nicknamed the King of the Beach for his six Long Beach victories, Unser has the second most career victories among active CART drivers. Despite going without a victory in 1996 - his first winless season since 1987 - Unser was high in the season standings with two runner-up and eight top-five finishes. Unser began the season as the CART career earnings record-holder with $17,735,906 in winnings.
