R.R. DONNELLEY TO PURCHASE BOOK MANUFACTURER HADDON
CHICAGO, Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- R.R. Donnelley and Sons Company (NYSE: DNY) has signed an agreement to acquire HCI Holdings, Inc., the parent company of Haddon Craftsmen, Inc., a book manufacturer with headquarters in Scranton, Pa. Haddon will become a wholly owned subsidiary of R.R. Donnelley when the transaction closes, which is expected by Oct. 1. Terms were not disclosed. Haddon, a 100-year-old book printing firm, specializes in one- and two-color general consumer titles. The company employs more than 800 people in several Pennsylvania locations: a bindery and distribution sites in and around Scranton, less than a two-hour drive from New York City; a printing plant in Bloomsburg; and ComCom, Haddon's composition and prepress facility, in Allentown.
