   R.D. SIEVERS ELECTED COMPTROLLER OF AMERICAN WATER WORKS COMPANY
    VOORHEES, N.J., Feb. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Robert D. Sievers, assistant comptroller of American Water Works Company, Inc. (NYSE: AWK), was elected comptroller today by the board of directors.  He succeeds Simon S. Stock Jr. who will retire in March.
    Sievers joined the American Water System in 1976 as an internal auditor and was named senior accountant in 1978.  He was elected assistant comptroller of the parent company and system director- accounting and internal audits for American Water Works Service Company in 1985.
    Sievers holds an accounting degree from Lehigh University and is a certified management accountant.
