Jeans. "Independent retailers are an important part of Wrangler's market. They cannot all afford the large set up costs for the traditional EDI services, nor do they have technical staff to run the area. This is where R-Net's innovations have helped to facilitate getting smaller stores up and running quickly. They have simplified the processes of EDI for everyone, and made it possible for many more retailers to utilize EDI to improve in-stock levels, consumer satisfaction and profits."

R-NET EDI of Carmichael, CA started blazing the trail providing simple, accessible EDI solutions in 1994. Their services integrate UPC (Universal Product Code) The standard bar code printed on retail merchandise, which is administered by GS1 US, Brussels, Belgium and Lawrenceville, NJ (www.gs1.org).  Catalogs on the Internet with easy-to-use, Windows-based software. A retailer or vendor can download their suppliers' UPCs from the R-Net Web site into their backroom back·room

systems in place, R-NET's system works as a stand-alone application as well. Retailers can download UPCs and automatically generate and trade EDI documents or, for a vendor, create and send their UPC catalog catalog, descriptive list, on cards or in a book, of the contents of a library. Assurbanipal's library at Nineveh was cataloged on shelves of slate. The first known subject catalog was compiled by Callimachus at the Alexandrian Library in the 3d cent. Best of all, the entire system can be easily installed and operated by the businessperson -- no technical expertise required.

"While the benefits of EDI have long been recognized, the process has also been complex and expensive. Easy access and exchange of retail business information are the keys to improving service and reducing cost. Retailers need the same SKU-level detail data regardless of the supplier's size.
