R&M expands into Saudi Arabia.

Swiss structured cabling specialists Reichle & De Massari have opened a new Saudi office in Riyadh.

This is the company's first office in the Kingdom, in line with regional expansion plans and R&M's strategy of providing strong local customer support. R&M will also establish an assembly facility in Riyadh and has increased its sales force in Dammam and Jeddah to effectively cover the eastern and western parts of the country.

"Customer demand is one of the key drivers behind our expansion as we're witnessing an uptake in IT spending in Saudi Arabia. Nearly every industry vertical is now investing heavily in network infrastructure to satisfy current and future broadband needs at the enterprise and end user level," said Jean-Pierre Labry, executive vice president, R&M Middle East and Africa. R&M's new Riyadh office is designed to meet the growing demand for the company's copper and fibre range. Growth has primarily been driven by the Kingdom's boom in information technology spending.

Recent figures estimate the Kingdom is expected to hit $5.7 billion dollars by 2014, fueled by rapid growth in the broadband market. Sophisticated network infrastructure is needed to support data applications such as e-commerce, rich media, and internet protocol television (IPTV).
