ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Health and Technology Experts to Address the Importance of Healthcare Information Standards in Creating National Information Infrastructures and Electronic Healthcare Records

(Nasdaq: QVDX), a global software and vertical solutions company, today announced that Dr. May Hu, Ph.D., vice president of engineering, Integration Solutions division (ISD) of Quovadx, will be a speaker at the 6th annual HL7 International Affiliations Meeting and 4th annual Asia-Pacific HL7 Conference on Healthcare Information Standards, to be held jointly. This international summit will bring together attendees seeking knowledge of implementing and adopting HL7 standards with industry leaders who have expertise in building regional and national information infrastructure for sharing and facilitating data, as well as forwarding the use of electronic healthcare records (EHRs). The event will be held at the GIS Convention Center in Taipei, Taiwan, from July 21 - 23, 2005.

In Dr. Hu's presentation, entitled "The Role of HL7 in a Nation-wide Health Information Infrastructure," she will illustrate the importance of technology and information standards in creating the interoperable, fluent systems needed for successful regional or national information infrastructures. Dr. Hu will punctuate key points of the discussion using real-world examples of Quovadx customers deploying tightly integrated clinical, financial and administrative data sharing through the company's award-winning HL7 integration platform, the Cloverleaf(R) Integration Suite. Case studies to be presented by Dr. Hu include regional health information networks currently deployed in the United States and abroad, such as:

--The Santa Barbara County Care Data Exchange (SBCCDE), Santa Barbara, California, U.S.: Dr. Hu will share the Company's pioneering work developing and implementing the complete technological solution for enabling community-wide clinical data exchange for healthcare providers serving a population of approximately 500,000.

--The Canadian Capital Health Authority regional information network, Alberta, Canada: This Canadian EHR initiative, serving 1.6 million people across central and northern Alberta, had 14 silos of clinical data in disparate systems. Quovadx implemented a regional identity management system and patient record locator service, making all lab, ADT and demographic data available in real-time to any authorized user, with over 10,000 patient transactions being added automatically per day.

--The Florida Department of Health (FDOH) Integrated Health Information Systems (IHIS) project, State of Florida, US: The FDOH, which protects the health and safety of all citizens in the state of Florida, and spans some 67 counties, 22 Children's Medical Services Offices and five state laboratories, deployed an IHIS to integrate and automate data flow through its complex network, supporting automated alerts and notifications; and connecting and exchanging critical public health information with its key health partners such as the CDC (Center for Disease Control).

In addition, Dr. Hu will discuss the key elements of national or regional health information infrastructures that are critical to building a strong technology framework for deployment, including the ability to standardize information formats and to integrate, translate and upgrade various types and versions of HL7 data standards.
