"An international forum of this type is invaluable to communities worldwide -- helping us share, learn and develop best practices for connecting medical communities and healthcare organizations," said Dr. May Hu. "Use of information standards, such as the HL7 format, will play an important role in increasing efficiencies, accuracy and access to critical healthcare data, which can help reduce medical errors, lower healthcare costs and improve the quality of patient care. As such, we are proud to share our experiences using technology standards in building and implementing infrastructure for regional and national health information networks."

Quovadx, through its Integration Solutions and CareScience divisions, has developed infrastructure for the support of clinical, financial and administrative data sharing for several regional and national health information networks (RHIN/NHIN), healthcare organizations and communities in the United States and abroad. Using a collaborative approach, Quovadx provides its strategic partners and customers with essential implementation expertise and technology components, proven in real-world RHIN/NHIN environments. The company's work in building health data sharing infrastructure, coupled with implementation expertise in healthcare integration and identity services, has allowed Quovadx to develop proven, scalable, and cost-effective infrastructure architectures for health network enablement.

To facilitate the synchronization of HL7 standards development in the Asia-Pacific region and the international community, this event is the combination of the 6th HL7 International Affiliations Meeting with the 4th Asia-Pacific Conference on Healthcare Information Standards. Currently, the HL7 International Affiliation has a 28-nation membership, with the aim to increase as additional countries recognize the importance of healthcare information standards in building national health information infrastructures and EHRs. The theme of this joint conference, "Leapfrogging healthcare and quality of life through integrated health information infrastructure," recognizes that health information standards are necessary for linking individual, regional, national and international core knowledge in healthcare and for creating, adopting and using EHRs in advancing the quality of healthcare services and improving quality of life through better population health.

The conference will feature a series of invited talks, paper presentations, panel discussions and tutorials centered on the main theme. For more information or to register for this event, please visit http://www.hl7.org.tw/conference2005/en/1.php.
