Quitters exchange cigarettes for charms.
'Feeling Good', a unique public health campaign in
Queensland, is encouraging young women to wear custom-made 'dog
tags' to show their commitment to quitting smoking. The aluminium
tags are designed by Brisbane jeweller Kylie Gartside, herself a
reformed smoker. The jewellery initiative is designed to reduce the
number of young female smokers, who smoke in higher numbers than their
male counterparts, by highlighting 'the positive image of a
smoke-free life'. 'Feeling Good' is an initiative of a
range of bodies including Queensland Health and the New World Order
Consortium. Profits from the sale of the dog tags will be donated to
youth charity Youngcare (Courier Mail, 25/5/06, p.42).
