QuickLogic Demos Overview

The QuickLogic suite features end product demos and reference platforms that use the company's latest solutions, ideal for portable, convergent CE products requiring wireless connectivity, mass storage and digital TV. Examples of such products include Smartphones, Portable Media Players, Portable Navigation Devices, PDAs, and Gaming Systems. For designers looking for a cost-efficient, system-verified solution for CE products without negatively impacting their power budget, QuickLogic solutions, based on PolarPro[TM] and Eclipse[R] II technology, are optimized for long battery life, enhanced user experience and small form factor.

Demos shown in the QuickLogic suite includes:

Smartphone Reference Platform

a. CE-ATA Hard Disk Drive (HDD (Hard Disk Drive) See hard disk and HDD caddy.

) / SDIO/ SD Card Solution - This reference platform integrates high performance CE-ATA and SDIO See SDIO card.  host controllers for the Marvell([R]) PXA3xx application processors for connectivity to a variety of storage and wireless technologies.

b. TV-Out Solution with XY Swap Capability - The emerging requirement for Smartphones to support the TV-Out function with simultaneously active landscape and portrait displays is enabled by this QuickLogic solution. Support for both NTSC (National TV Standards Committee) The committee that developed the television standards for the U.S, which are also used in Canada, Japan, South Korea and several Central and South American countries. Both the committee and the standard are called "NTSC.  and PAL displays is possible through the solution's active frame-rate control management.

Portable Media Player (PMP See point-to-multipoint and portable media player.

a. The first PMP reference platform supports broadband 3G connectivity via HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access) See HSPA. , multimedia storage via an integrated HDD, and wireless distribution of media content via UltraWideBand technology. QuickLogic's companion solution for the Marvell[R] PXA270 application processor enables the critical communication link to the HDD and the wireless modules.

b. A second PMP platform is based on an Analog Devices Blackfin[R] DSP (1) (Digital Signal Processor) A special-purpose CPU used for digital signal processing applications (see definition #2 below). It provides ultra-fast instruction sequences, such as shift and add, and multiply and add, which are commonly used in math-intensive , and plays back multimedia content stored from an SD Card memory. QuickLogic's companion device for the Blackfin[R] family of DSPs enables high performance connectivity to the SD memory card - critical to storing and playing high quality audio/video content.

Portable Navigation Devices

a. Magellan[R] GPS system - QuickLogic's HDD companion solution connects the Marvell[R] PXA270 application processor to the external HDD. The QuickLogic solution not only solves the fundamental connectivity issue, but with an elegant DMA (1) (Digital Media Adapter) See digital media hub.

(2) (Document Management Alliance) A specification that provides a common interface for accessing and searching document databases.
algorithm, also reduces the processor bus utilization resulting in an enhanced user experience.

Other Demos

a. Alioth customer product demonstration - QuickLogic's HDD Solution is used to display movie content at kiosks in real time. This demo shows a complete application processor and HDD solution, based on the Marvell([R]) PXA270. QuickLogic provides a drop-in IDE system solution including Linux drivers.

b. Marvell[R] Mainstone DVK demonstration with Wireless LAN, PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS.

(2) (Peripheral Component Interconnect) The most widely used I/O bus (peripheral bus).
and IDE Solution - QuickLogic's companion solution communicates between the Marvell[R] PXA270 processor, a WLAN See wireless LAN.

 module, and a HDD.

c. Low Power Demo Board - If you are searching for the lowest power FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) A type of gate array that is programmed in the field rather than in a semiconductor fab. Containing up to hundreds of thousands of gates, there are a variety of FPGA architectures on the market. , this demo platform leaves no doubt that QuickLogic's PolarPro technology is second to none in power consumption, providing designers of portable CE equipment a programmable platform ideal for solving IO and Data processing challenges, while preserving precious battery life.
