Questionmark Enhances LDAP Feature Set For Verifying Assessment Participants.

Questionmark(TM), the leading provider of testing and assessment software since 1988, has announced an upgrade to its LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) A protocol used to access a directory listing. LDAP support is implemented in Web browsers and e-mail programs, which can query an LDAP-compliant directory.  (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (protocol) Lightweight Directory Access Protocol - (LDAP) A protocol for accessing on-line directory services.

LDAP was defined by the IETF in order to encourage adoption of X.500 directories.

With Questionmark(TM) Perception(TM) for LDAP, a user gets referred to an assessment on a web page and enters his or her LDAP user name and password for authentication. This saves organizations from having to synchronize user name and password systems; it also means that names to do not need to be entered into the Perception security database. This new version of qmldap.dll requires version 3.3.2 of Perception Server, is upwards compatible with previous versions of qmldap.dll, and includes the following new features:
-- Scheduling: It is now possible to schedule groups when assessments are taken with qmldap.dll. The group may be obtained from either the LDAP directory or the command line.

-- Ability to pass demographic data: It is now possible to take special fields and participant details from the LDAP directory to pass demographic data into Perception.

-- Support of LDAPS: LDAPS can now be used to provide a secure link between Perception and LDAP.

-- Backup server availability: A second LDAP server can now be used as a backup server that is used if the main one fails.

-- Group can be defined in LDAP directory: The group can now be obtained from either the LDAP directory or the command line.
